Devoted Canines

Hello my fellow bodau dynol (human beings in Welsh)! I am sorry for not doing as many posts today, but I do have a valid excuse – I have been on and off all day trying to edit the pages of my site so that you guys will have an easier time getting around… just wait till you see the homepage!

Apologies for what I am about to say, but I am a little drained today to come up with anything different to what I have been doing lately, so here comes another image based poem! Please tell me if you guys are getting bored of these, and if you have any other ideas on what I should post, because that would really help me out! That being said, if you do choose to leave a request in the comment section, make sure it is polite, as I don’t tolerate internet trolls, and I value civil actions.

The little ball of cuteness in the photo below is my adorable dog Bella. Some would argue that when she gets her hair cut she looks like a demon, and that before we removed her lower teeth (due to dental reasons) she looked like a freaking vampire, but it doesn’t matter what they look like, to every owner, their dog is the best, most endearing pet in the entire world – and that certainly is the case here.

I know I’m rambling on a bit, but before we get into the poem, I just want to think about every time you have been absolutely ticked off (sorry if I get any of you worked up here). I can’t even begin to count the amount of times little miss Bella has benightedly peed all over the carpet, pooped in the middle of the street, cleaned Molly’s butthole (Molly being my cat, from Flawless Feline) and then lick me with the same tongue!

But even when she does something stupid and is sent to time out, and even when she doesn’t get to have a denta-stick after being a naughty girl, she would still brighten up anyone’s day with her happy disposition, and the charismatic snorting noises she makes when she’s content. (Seriously, she is the cutest thing ever!)

So before we get into the poem, if you have a dog, a cat, or even a bird that seems to be waiting for you every time you get a coffee, draw some inspiration from them, and save it for those times where you are ripping out your hair in frustration.

Well, that’s it for now, hope you look forward to the updates I am making on my blog, and if you have any suggestions, be sure to leave a comment! Hope you enjoy the poem, head aega (goodbye in Estonian)! 👋👋

Waddling along
Not a care in the world
Eyes only focused on the life ahead of them
Forgiving and forgetting the past
Moving on
With love

Everything is magical
They see the world through children's eyes
Always something new to smell
Always something new to see
Always something new to feel

Their enchanting nature is so hard to follow as a human
Nothing is ever simple
And you look back and wish
Wondering how well you could have handled it
If only...

Living in the moment
It's a nice sentiment
The only problem is that it can destroy

But it can also invent
It can invent a new version of yourself
One who has no regrets
And enjoys every blessed second

One akin to the likes of your role model
Your idol who is your friend
Your family
Your partner
But most of all

Your dog

Flawless Feline

Good day to all those who are a part of humanity! I don’t know about you, but I am really enjoying image based poetry at the moment, I have absolutely no idea why! I guess its something about having a deeper connection with the piece of writing since its idea came from a photo I took… but in any case, its fun, and if your brain is drained, and you want to do some writing to relax, I would definitely recommend this!

Sadly, the featured fatness in this photo is currently sick, but she is getting better, and just the other day she finally finished a bowl of food that she would have finished in seconds on a normal day. This picture shows her ferocity while defending a plant and its pot that she uses as a scratching pole and a nap bed.

Gonna sound like a broken record, but remember that we are all humans, and none of us are perfect, and if we were, that would be really boring. (If you’re wondering, that was a badly phrased version of a quote from Misty Copeland, a famous principle dancer in the American ballet.) Keeping that in mind, if you do have any comments, and are unsure of how to do it, see the navigation page in the contents bar at the top of the blog.

Having said that, I have babbled on about a cat and a drained brain in the time it could have taken for you to read my actual poem, so without any more hassle, au revoir 🥖🥐…

The cat
So solemnly beautiful
Yet so hastily ferocious
Watching your every move
Remembering each one with excruciating detail

Their fur so soft
Their eyes so sinister
Following you with them wherever you go
Waiting for the perfect moment
Pouncing flawlessly every time

So many breeds, so many categories
Labelled by what they are worth
By what they look like
And what they feel
Constantly itemized by our superior species

Until they prove they are alpha
With their violent hissing
And grazing swipe
They slit with malicious accuracy
But underneath all that remains...

A fluffy, silky, unimpeachable cat.
